Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has closed a five-point gap on Democratic opponent Hillary Clinton in the battleground state of Florida to just two points, according to the latest YouGov/CBS News 2016 Battleground Tracker poll Sunday.
It makes the race in Florida a relative tie when taking the poll’s margin of error into consideration. Clinton had been clear of the margin of error with a lead on Trump in the post-convention race.
Clinton held 45 percent of the likely Florida voters polled in August, but now leads Trump just 44-42 percent. Libertarian Gary Johnson holds steady at 5 percent, while the Green Party’s Jill Stein stayed at 2 percent.
Trump’s two-point increase coincided with the same drop 8 to 6 points by the Don’t Know/Other category in the poll.
The poll was taken Sept. 7-9 and had a margin of error of +/- 3.5 points.
