Bill Shine, the former Fox News co-president forced out of his job in May in a sexual harassment scandal, is being considered for a position in the White House communications office, The New York Times reports.
The newspaper said Shine — once the top lieutenant to late Fox News founder Roger Ailes who got caught up in sexual harassment charges against Ailes — has spoken with White House officials about the job.
Shine's discussions last week were confirmed by two senior administration officials who requested anonymity, according to the Times. Another source said the administration is mulling a "behind-the-scenes role" for Shine that would tap his TV production skills.
The Times's Michael Grynbaum writes that Shine has an "influential ally in the Fox News host Sean Hannity, an informal adviser to Mr. Trump — and one of his most loyal on-air supporters — who dined with Mr. Shine, the president and the first lady at the White House last week."
