Fred Fleitz to Newsmax: 2-State Solution Plan 'Dead on Arrival'

By    |   Thursday, 01 February 2024 03:25 PM EST

Reports indicating that the Biden administration is planning to push for a two-state solution between Israel and the Palestinians is "pure politics" and would be "dead on arrival," as neither side will agree to the plan, Fred Fleitz, a senior fellow at the America First Policy Institute, said Thursday on Newsmax.

Quoting media reports, Fleitz, a former CIA analyst, said on Newsmax's "American Agenda" said the Biden administration "plans to push for a deeply militarized Palestine run by a revitalized Palestinian Authority, and that this will be an initiative that will bring about peace in the Middle East."

The problem, Fleitz said, is that neither side wants a two-state solution.

"Israel has utterly rejected this," he said. "Hamas is not going to agree to anything like this, where they don't get to run Gaza. The Palestinian Authority is not going to agree to give up power or to reform itself."

The discussions are taking place so President Joe Biden "can be seen to be doing something," said Fleitz. "I think in the end, this proposal will fail and Israel will be blamed. This is a terrible way for us to treat such an important ally."

Amir A. Fakhravar, the Senate chair of the National Iranian Congress, also appearing on Newsmax, said the two-state solution is being discussed while the White House is living in a "parallel world."

"They think their ideology should govern the world and they are not living in reality," Fakhravar said. "If they want to do something, they should go after Iran because Iran is the mother of international terrorism."

Fleitz also spoke out against Biden's executive order calling for sanctions on Jewish settlers who attack Palestinians in the occupied West Bank.

"It's outrageous, with everything going on in the Middle East, that the Biden administration is sanctioning Israeli citizens, and we can't work this out with the Israeli government, after all that went on with the Oct. 7 terrorist attacks, and these attacks on American troops," Fleitz said.

He added that Biden's plan "will essentially reward Hamas and reward other Palestinians who hate Israel with a peace plan, which is their dream come true, except they actually will want even more. They want the destruction of Israel."
