Rep. Frederica Wilson will not be attending President Donald Trump's State of the Union speech on Jan. 30.
"For the first time since I began serving in the U.S. House of Representatives, I will not be attending the president's State of the Union address," the Florida Democrat, who joined the House of Representatives in 2011, told The Tampa Bay Times.
"I have no doubt that instead of delivering a message of inclusivity and an agenda that benefits all Americans, President Trump's address will be full of innuendo, empty promises, and lies."
Wilson clashed with the Trump administration after the death of Army Sgt. La David Johnson, when she said the president, in a phone call, told Johnson's widow "he knew what he was signing up for."
The congresswoman also slammed the president for reports of his comments about Haiti and African nations.
"Many of his proposed domestic policies are harmful to people of color, low-income communities, and the middle class. It would be an embarrassment to be seen with him at a forum that under any president would be an honor to attend," Wilson said in the Tampa Bay Times.
Rep. John Lewis, D-Ga., on Friday also announced he would not attend the president's speech.
Other Democrats that have said they will not attend include Reps. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., and Earl Blumenauer, D-Ore., The Tampa Bay Times reported.
