Barack Obama edged out President Donald Trump as America’s "most admired man" in a new Gallup poll.

And Hillary Clinton was named the "most admired woman" in the survey.

Here is how the poll breaks down:

  • 17 percent of those surveyed named the former president as their most admired man;
  • 14 percent said Trump;
  • 3 percent named Pope Francis;
  • 2 percent named the Rev. Billy Graham;
  • 2 percent said Sen. John McCain;
  • 2 percent named Tesla founder Elon Musk;
  • Others receiving votes included Vice President Mike Pence, Sen. Bernie Sanders and Microsoft Founder Bill Gates.

It marks the 10th consecutive year Obama has finished in first place in the annual poll, Gallup noted.

The "most admired woman" polling shaped up like this:

  • 9 percent for Clinton;
  • 7 percent for Michelle Obama;
  • 4 percent for Oprah Winfrey;
  • 3 percent for Sen. Elizabeth Warren;
  • 2 percent for German Chancellor Angela Merkel;
  • 2 percent for Queen Elizabeth;
  • 1 percent for Melania Trump;
  • Other receiving votes included Prince William’s wife, Kate; Beyonce and former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.

"The 2017 survey marks the 16th consecutive year Clinton has been the most admired woman," said Jeffrey Jones, a Gallup senior editor. "She has held the title 22 times in total, more than anyone else."

And he added: A quarter of Americans cannot name a man or a woman they admire most. Nine percent name a relative or friend as the most admired man, and 13 percent do so for the most admired woman."

The survey, conducted Dec. 4-11, sampled 1,049 adults. The margin of error is plus or minus 4 percentage points.
