Now that the special counsel has come up short on its "squeeze" of Trump campaign officials, former aide George Papadopoulos is hoping those on the "other side"  get jail time for conspiracy.

"President [Donald] Trump is now on the offense," Papadopoulos told "The Cats Roundtable" on 970 AM-N.Y. "And once he starts declassifying materials — as you probably have been seeing in the media about my case, where I'm basically telling informants that I have nothing to do with the Russians, yet they still use it against me — you might start seeing people on the other side going to jail for conspiracy. And I hope they do."

Papadopoulos told host John Catsimatidis the special counsel used FARA (foreign agents registration act) charge threats to "squeeze" members of the Trump campaign "in order to get Trump."

"They wanted to make an example out of us," Papadopoulos said. "They wanted to squeeze us in order to get Trump. It didn't work."

Papadopoulos did serve a brief sentence after a plea bargain, but added Americans just do not get "prosecuted" or "persecuted" for FARA violations, which shows the extensive efforts the government went to try to get to the president for Russian operatives having supported his campaign.

"Most people who work for Donald Trump, if not all of them, either got bankrupt, their life thrown in a whirlwind, or found themselves in short or long jail sentences," Papadopoulos said. "My short answer to you is if the feds want to get you they're going to get you."
