President Barack Obama's legacy will vanish because "he didn't do the hard work of passing legislation" and President-elect Donald Trump will repeal his executive orders, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said Wednesday.
"What you're watching is a man who realizes all of a sudden that like 90 percent of his legacy is going to disappear because he didn't do the hard work of passing legislation," Gingrich told Fox News' "Fox & Friends" program.
"He didn't reach out to work with the other side. By the way, that's also a warning to Trump. Trump needs a bipartisan majority that actually passes legislation in the House and the Senate. It can't be narrowly Republican. He doesn't want to repeat the Obama mistake," Gingrich said.
"Starting the opening day when Trump starts to repeal all these executive orders, it's going to be like one of those balloons that deflates," he continued.
"The Obama legacy is going to do this and down to a core of 10 or 15 percent of what he originally did. The rest is all going to disappear within a year."
The former speaker praised Trump, saying he's a "pretty good deal-maker . . . and I suspect he will reach out to a lot of people."
Gingrich also predicted that some Democrats would be willing to work with Trump because they might say, "I don't want to deal with eight years of yelling, 'No.'"
Hillary Clinton and the Democrats lost the election because they did not focus on the Electoral College and "they live in a delusional world… the so-called professional forgot the Electoral College mattered, and that's what mattered," he added.
