President Donald Trump's personal attorney Rudy Giuliani supports Michael Cohen's cooperation with federal prosecutors and has "no concerns" about Cohen telling the "truth" because "every indication we have is the president is not involved in this."
"Michael Cohen should cooperate with the government," Giuliani told ABC's "This Week." "We have no reason to believe he did anything wrong.
"The president did nothing wrong with him. We've gone through every document we can. We see no evidence of it."
Giuliani added he is "hoping Michael is able to clear himself," because Giuliani said the FBI raid on his offices, home, and hotel room was "unfair"
"I have no concerns that Michael Cohen is going to do anything but tell the truth," Giuliani said.
Later on CNN's "State of the Union," Giuliani added: "If he does that, we're home free."
With regard to the reported $130,000 hush payment to porn actress Stormy Daniels for then-candidate Trump through Cohen, Giuliani said President Trump "did not originally know" about it.
"As far as I know from [Cohen's] original statements and the president's statements —everything I have seen in terms of documents and the way it was reimbursed — no, the president did not originally know," Giuliani told host George Stephanopoulos. "At some point, probably a little foggy as to exactly when, the president found out and reimbursed him. That's the clear point, and second, it wasn't a campaign contribution. This is something you would have paid for no matter what."
Calling it a mere "nuisance" payment," Giuliani added it did not matter whether Trump was a political candidate, even if he had directed Cohen to make that payment, because it is "something you would settle because you don't want your family to be embarrassed."
Giuliani had told special counsel Robert Mueller the president is not going to agree to testify unless the investigators have proof of a crime committed by the president, of which Giuliani has said he has seen no basis for the investigation.
"We'd like to know if there is any factual basis for the investigation originally or they've developed one, because we can't find one," Giuliani told CNN. "Nor can anyone else, nor have they with all the leaking they've done. . . .
"I should correct it. I didn't say they have to prove a crime."
