Rudy Giuliani on Thursday touted himself as the hero in the ongoing Ukraine drama.
“It is impossible that the whistle-blower is a hero and I’m not. And I will be the hero! These morons — when this is over, I will be the hero,” Giuliani told The Atlantic hours after the release of a whistleblower complaint detailing President Donald Trump’s phone call with Ukraine’s president in which Trump pressures the leader to investigate political rival Joe Biden.
“I’m not acting as a lawyer. I’m acting as someone who has devoted most of his life to straightening out government,” Giuliani continued. “Anything I did should be praised.”
Giuliani, the former New York City Mayor and Trump’s personal attorney, is under fire for his dealings with Ukraine.
Trump in the transcript of his call asked Ukraine’s president to work with Giuliani and U.S. Attorney General William Barr on a probe into Biden.
"There's a lot of talk about Biden's son, that Biden stopped the prosecution and a lot of people want to find out about that so whatever you can do with the Attorney General would be great. Biden went around bragging that he stopped the prosecution so if you can look into it ... It sounds horrible to me," Trump says, according to the document.
Giuliani has long lobbied Ukraine to investigate Biden’s call in 2016 to remove the country’s top prosecutor.
