Conservative talk radio host Glenn Beck said Monday that newly appointed Trump administration adviser Stephen Bannon is a "nightmare" with "a clear tie to white nationalists."
Beck has long been a critic of Bannon, the former Breitbart News executive chairman and Trump campaign CEO who was named President-elect Donald Trump's chief strategist and chief counselor on Sunday.
"Steve Bannon wants to burn it down," Beck told his audience. "He's a nightmare. And he's the chief adviser to president of the United States now."
Bannon "has a clear tie to white nationalists," Beck said. "He's built Breitbart as a platform for the alt-right. He is on record saying that. He's on record defining the alt-right. He knows what it is. He is a guy who wants to tear this system down and replace it with a new system. He is a frightening … no, he is a terrifying man. A terrifying man."
The alt-right generally rejects traditional conservative principals, with some embracing white supremacist and anti-Semitic thought.
Beck warned that members of the press who want to call Trump a racist "might want to stop on that one and spend a little time on Bannon."
