A Department of Justice slush fund was used by the Obama administration to funnel billions of dollars to leftist activist groups, congressional investigators tell Fox News.
Rep. John Ratcliffe, a Texas Republican, told the network: "It's clear partisan politics played a role in the illicit actions that were made. The DOJ is the last place this should have occurred."
Fox says the House Judiciary Committee found "a process shrouded in secrecy whereby monies were distributed to a labyrinth of nonprofit organizations involved with grass-roots activism."
There is now an effort by Republicans to eliminate the practice.
Among the "left-leaning organizations" to have who benefited include the National Council of La Raza, the National Community Reinvestment Coalition and the National Urban League, according to Fox.
