Republicans should be worried about young Democratic voters who are energized to vote in the midterm elections, Ohio GOP Gov. John Kasich said Sunday.
In an interview on CNN's "State of the Union," Kasich said massive protests advocating gun control Saturday show younger voters might defy their usual pattern of low turnout in off-year elections.
"We saw an election in Pennsylvania where the people are basically saying they can't stand what's happening in Washington," he said. "And, yeah, I really do believe that" the GOP should be concerned.
Kasich was sympathetic to the movement by young voters to push for tougher gun controls.
"The fact of the matter is it's a massive effort here, and it reminds me of some of the protests that have changed the people in office," he said. "But they have to keep it up. If they don't keep it up, those that want no change will just sit on their hands."
