GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump has hit a new high in national polling, leading his rivals with 40.1 percent support, according to a Gravis Marketing poll for One America News Network.

"It's surprising to see how fast Donald Trump has moved up in the polls since the debate," Robert Herring, Sr., CEO of One America News Network said. "Claims by media that Trump peaked in July have proven to be false."

The poll has Trump support up 9.3 percent from July 31 when he was at 30.8 percent, just prior to the first GOP debate on Aug. 6.

Here's how the rest of the field fared (July 31 numbers in parenthesis):
  • Ben Carson, 13.0 percent (6.1)
  • Jeb Bush, 10.0 percent (13.3)
  • Ted Cruz, 7.0 percent (5.6)
  • Carly Fiorina, 5.2 percent (1.9)
  • John Kasich, 4.8 percent (N/A)
  • Marco Rubio, 4.7 percent (5.4)
  • Mike Huckabee, 3.7 percent (5.6)
  • Scott Walker, 3.5 percent (12.5)
  • Rick Perry, 1.5 percent (3.0)
  • Rand Paul, 1.5 percent (4.4)
  • Chris Christie, 1.4 percent (3.4)
  • George Pataki, 1.1 percent, (0.2)
  • Rick Santorum, 1.0 percent (1.6)
  • Bobby Jindal, 0.9 percent (0.6)
  • Lindsey Graham, 0.6 percent (0.7)
The poll conducted a random survey of 3,567 registered voters across the United States from August 21-22. It has a margin of error of +/- 2%.
