Rep. Guy Reschenthaler, R-Pa., on Friday told Newsmax TV that he’s “torn” on impeachment, as he both wants the articles dismissed and wants to force the whistleblower and others involved in the Ukraine scandal to testify.

When asked if he wants impeachment over quickly or a more drawn-out trial, Reschenthaler said he’s “torn,” adding, “I was a former district judge, and the judge in me would say, ‘dismiss these articles on day number one,’ and why? Because they lack merit. The Democrats cannot make out what we attorneys will call a prima facie case, meaning that the elements of the charge crimes are not supported even in the evidence most favorable to the prosecutor, in this the Democrats. There’s just not enough there.”

However, he said that “as a political animal,” he’d rather see the case take its time, and he “wants to see witnesses called, I want to see the whistleblower come in an testify,” as well as former Vice President Joe Biden.

“I want the American people to see how weak these articles of impeachment really are, and what a shame this entire impeachment proceeding been from the beginning.”
