Russian pranksters reportedly duped Democratic vice presidential nominee Kamala Harris by posing as teenage activist Greta Thunberg and her father in a phone call during which they claimed to have dirt on President Donald Trump.
According to the U.K.-based tabloid US Sun, tricksters Vladimir Kuznetsov and Alexey Stolyarov chatted with Harris for three minutes; the news outlet posted the transcript of the conversation.
Harris initially praised the youngster she thought was the acclaimed teen climate activist, saying “I am so inspired by your courage and your voice.”
The phony Thunberg then claims she has "nightmares" about meeting Trump at the United Nations last September, telling Harris “He came over and he said softly to me ‘you will never achieve the goal’,” the transcript posted by the Sun shows.
The phony Thunberg is joined in the conversation by her fake dad “Svante,” the transcript shows. The pair say they’ll give the audio to Harris to help her campaign.
"Thank you, that would be wonderful,” Harris replies, according to the transcript posted by the US Sun.
It is illegal to record people's conversations without both parties' consent in 15 states - but not in New York where the fictitious conversation took place.
Security experts told the tabloid the prank should serve as a "wake up call,” calling out Harris’ team for failing to verify who was on the other end of the phone.
The Russian duo known as Vovan and Lexus has also duped Prince Harry and Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., among others, the US Sun reported.
