Hillary Clinton is launching an all-out offensive to portray Donald Trump as unfit to deal with the country's national security issues,
The Washington Post reports.
"Clinton will rebuke the fear, bigotry and misplaced defeatism that Trump has been selling to the American people," an aide to the Democratic presidential front-runner and former secretary of state told the newspaper.
"She will make the affirmative case for the exceptional role America has played and must continue to play in order to keep our country safe and our economy growing."
Part of the push is to convince "national-security-minded Republicans and independents who would vote for her, even grudgingly, rather than see Trump win the White House," The Post's Ann Gearan writes.
A Washington Post/ABC News poll conducted last month revealed Americans are split on who would better handle national security issues, with 47 percent opting for Clinton and 44 percent for Trump. But with the margin of error figured in, it's a virtual tie.
