Hillary Clinton Friday congratulated early voters nationally in a signed tweet, singling out Ohio — where surveys show she and Donald Trump are in a dead heat.
Clinton wrote on Twitter:
The latest Suffolk University poll released Thursday showed that the candidates are at 45 percent each, with Clinton benefiting from a recent surge among independent voters.
In addition, a report Friday on early voting nationally showed that ballot requests are down in the heavily Democratic counties of Cuyahoga and Franklin in the Buckeye State.
The Associated Press reported that, overall, Clinton appeared to be strongly ahead of Trump in North Carolina and Florida — and pulling ahead in Arizona and Colorado — while Trump was holding his ground in Ohio, Iowa and Georgia.
So far, more than 4.4 million votes have been cast, according to the report, far ahead of the same period in 2012.
Balloting is underway in 34 out of 37 early-voting states.
