Potential Clinton Donors to Meet in New York Next Week

By    |   Saturday, 22 November 2014 10:28 PM EST

A group will meet in New York next week to discuss ways of raising money for Hillary Clinton as soon as she announces her anticipated Democratic campaign for the White House in 2016.

The meeting will be convened by Michael Kempner, founder and head of the MWW Group public relations firm, Politico reports.

He recently held a similar meeting in New Jersey with Josh Gottheimer, a former Clinton adviser who worked as a speech writer for former President Bill Clinton.

Citing "people familiar with the plan," Politico reported that next week's session includes Charles Myers, a senior managing director at Evercore Partners Inc., and investor Jim Torrey.

They have raised money for President Barack Obama, according to the sources.

In addition, Anne Hess, the New York philanthropist and political activist, and lawyer Barry Berke are expected to attend the gathering, Politico reports.

At the New Jersey meeting, the Kempner group planned to commit as much as $10 million as soon as Hillary Clinton discloses her intentions, according to BuzzFeed.

About 35 people who are critical to the Garden State's "Democratic fundraising infrastructure" attended the meeting.

Clinton, who has served as Secretary of State and Senator from New York, has said she will announce her plans early next year.
