Ready For Hillary is ready to go out of business — just as soon as she announces definitively whether she's running or not.
"When she makes the decision or announces the decision, we begin to shut down; 98 percent of our operations will shut down very quickly," group founder Adam Parkhomenko
told USA Today Friday.
The group will immediately turn over its lists of supporters to her campaign if she chooses to run.
The group has amassed some $10 million since it was founded in 2013, spending most of that money for online advertising. But perhaps an even more valuable asset is the contact information gathered for about three million people from across the country through the group's use of fundraisers and solicitations through email and direct mail.
Further, the group has used a "Hillary Bus" to go around the country to rally people who want the former first lady to run for the Oval Office.
Adviser Harold Ickes, who is a longtime strategist for the Clintons, said Ready For Hillary's valuable supporters' list will either be sold or rented to the Clinton campaign if she announces her intentions. In addition, the support group will then send out emails asking that any further donations go directly to the Clinton campaign.
However, reports USA Today, support for a Clinton campaign goes far beyond a list from Ready for Hillary.
Parkhomenko recently spoke in New York to a meeting of his group's national finance council, which also included speakers from the Priorities USA political action committee, which is raising money; EMILY's List, which backs Democratic female candidates; the voter targeting firm 270 Strategies, which was founded by President Barack Obama's highly successful campaign group; and the PAC American Bridge, which fights Republican attacks on her.
And while none of the speakers outright discussed Clinton's candidacy as a possibility or fact, as she has not officially announced she is running, Obama campaign alumnus and 270s Strategies founder Mitch Stewart called her "my specific hypothetical candidate.''
Parkhomenko said that it's not "inevitable" that she runs, or how far she'll go if she does.
"We learned in 2008 she's not inevitable,'' he said
at the meeting. "A woman's never won the Iowa caucuses, a woman has never been a major-party nominee, a woman has never been elected president, and Hillary Clinton hasn't made up her mind.''
And
Clinton has kept her intentions quiet while maintaining a high profile that has included her recent book tour and a comment this week to endorse Obama's executive order on immigration.
