Political Analyst Ron Christie: Hillary is Big Loser in Bridge-gate

Thursday, 09 January 2014 03:48 PM EST

The "big loser" in the Chris Christie bridge-gate scandal is not the New Jersey governor — it's Hillary Clinton, his potential opponent in the 2016 presidential race, according to political analyst Ron Christie, CEO of Christie Strategies.

Ron Christie, who is not related to the Garden State's top lawmaker, told "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV, that Christie's grueling two-hour press conference was "the best possible way… for a leader to stand before the American people."

It's something that Democrats including Clinton and President Barack Obama have failed to do in answering questions about scandals such as the Benghazi attack.

"I honestly believe the big loser out of all of this is Hillary Rodham Clinton," Christie said.

Story continues below video.

"'What difference does it make at this point' [Clinton's answer during a Benghazi hearing] — that is going to be hung around her neck like an albatross if she decides to jump in the 2016 campaign... The parallels of Christie couldn't be drawn any more stark here."

Christie added there is a stark contrast between Chris Christie and Obama.

"When Benghazi took place, we still to this day don't have any idea where President Obama was during the evening of the attack," he said.

"We do know that he went on a fundraiser the next day out in Los Angeles, but President Obama never took to the podium, never held anybody responsible, never fired any of his staff, and never ultimately said, the buck stops with me.

"What did you hear Christie say today? And I don't always agree with Chris Christie, but he said, I'm kind of sad today, and he stood up there for well over an hour in his press conference."
