Hillary Clinton did not complete any courses or briefings on handling classified material or conducting secure communications during her tenure as secretary of state, according to Obama administration court filings made in response to a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit.

The Daily Caller News Foundation filed suit seeking any documentation on Clinton's training in classified materials in relation to her use of an unsecured private email server.

Clinton, as the Democratic nominee for president, began receiving classified briefings on Friday.

According to the Friday court filing, the inability to locate records of training by Clinton or her top aides, as required annually, mens the "courses were not completed," The Daily Caller reports.

"If the search of these databases did not locate any such training records, then the courses were not completed," Eric Stein, co-director of the State Department’s Office of Information Programs and Services said in the filing.

But State Department deputy spokesman Mark Toner told the Daily Caller that Clinton was given "in person orientation" and that "The absence of documentation from training resources they did not use does not indicate that they were not trained."

But, the website notes, two officials in their filing before the court stated otherwise.

"State searched the record systems and databases that would contain records showing that the specified individuals completed the mandatory training courses — if they in fact completed them," said Benjamin Mizer, principal deputy assistant Attorney General, and Marcia Berman, assistant director of the Federal Program Branch at the Justice Department.
