Hillary Clinton hasn't announced her running mate yet, but according to
The Washington Post, it might be New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker.
The freshman senator and former Newark mayor hasn't been on the radar of potential vice presidents, which usually includes Senators Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., and Tim Kaine, D-Va., and Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack, but an unnamed "Democrat with knowledge of the process" claims Booker is being considered.
Last Friday, presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton hosted Booker in her D.C. home,
Politico reports. Later that day she met with Warren, Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Julian Castro, and Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper.
Booker appeared in Cleveland on Thursday as part of a press conference "to denounce the divisive rhetoric surrounding Donald Trump's Republican convention," according to the Post.
NBC News reports that Booker has made four appearances with Clinton, and has been one of her "most enthusiastic surrogates."
Booker is "a very special senator" and a "very special person," Clinton said at an appearance in Newark recently. He "probably has more energy and charisma than anybody else I know," she continued.
A Democrat close to Clinton told
CNN that "the conventional wisdom in this case seems likely to be right," and that Kaine could be her choice.
"It's wonderful to be mentioned," Kaine said at an appearance on Wednesday. "But I love my job and trying not to overly think it."
