White House Deputy Press Secretary Hogan Gidley Friday rejected claims that the Trump administration is engaged in a coverup over President Donald Trump's phone call with Ukraine's president, as the world has the documentation.
"We literally released the document," Gidley told Fox News' "Fox and Friends." "It makes no sense whatsoever. Let's not forget here Nancy Pelosi went on television saying the president had committed a crime that she had the evidence before we had actually released the transcript. It is very clear Democrats do not care about the facts."
Gidley also on Friday denied that Trump had referred to the whistleblower who revealed the phone call as a spy," but instead said the president is talking about the person or people who gave the information to the whistleblower the information
"This president has faced an unparalleled amount of scrutiny from a liberal, nasty media, and also from the inside," said Gidley. "His calls from private leaders from Australia, for example, have come out already. This Ukraine call we put out. His conversation with the Mexican president has all come out. These leaks are dangerous."
The White House wanted to get the transcript out because Democrats have "pushed a Russian lie" on the country for three years without evidence and now they are doing it all over again, Gidley added.
"They want this to be true so badly, they will forego facts," said Gidley who also denied Friday that officials in the White House were "alarmed" by the Trump-Ukraine phone call.
