Maryland’s GOP Gov. Larry Hogan on Sunday lamented the lack of “profiles in courage” among Republican lawmakers who won’t  “stand up” against President Donald Trump’s effort to “change the outcome” of the Nov. 3 presidential vote.

In an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Hogan called the effort to sway Michigan state lawmakers to not certify the count there “outrageous.”

“I just don't think there are a lot of profiles in courage, frankly,” he said of elected GOP leaders in Washington. “We all know how vindictive the president can be, how powerful his Twitter account is, and, how he can really pressure Republicans and go after them.”

“Very few of us are willing to stand up,” he continued. “But there are more and more… a number of my gubernatorial colleagues and a number of Senators and quite a few House members and I think that is slowly growing every day. I think the others are quietly talking and telling the president their advice about what he should do. He is just is not following any of the advice.”

“History will judge everybody as they did during Watergate,” Hogan declared.

Hogan said he’s “not sure” Trump is “going to do the right thing” ahead of the Jan. 20 presidential swearing-in.

“I thought the pressuring of the [state] legislators to try to somehow change the outcome with electors was completely outrageous,” he said. “Quite frankly, we used to supervise elections around the world and we were the most respected country with respect to elections. Now we are beginning to look like we are a banana republic.

“Now it's time for them to stop the nonsense. It it's more bizarre every single day and, frankly, I'm embarrassed that more people in the party aren't speaking up.”
