Although a Huntsman Corp. executive founded the Our Destiny PAC, it claims to be unaffiliated with the corporation itself, reports
Politico.
Thomas Muir, a vice president at the Huntsman Corp. that Republican presidential candidate Jon Huntsman once led, formed the PAC last week. And the super PAC has set out to promote the former Utah governor’s campaign.
But Gary Chapman, vice president for global communications at the corporation, said in an email that Muir is acting independently from the company.
“The Our Destiny PAC is not affiliated with Huntsman Corporation,” Chapman wrote. “Mr. Muir was acting in his personal capacity and the company has no comment on his involvement in starting the PAC.”
Jon Huntsman, a former U.S. ambassador to China, was once CEO of Huntsman Corp., which his father started. And although the company may not be affiliated literally with the PAC, the Huntsman family and Huntsman Corp. are linked inextricably, Politico noted.
GOP ad expert Fred Davis, who once worked for Huntsman’s campaign, has joined with Our Destiny PAC to help solicit support.
