President-elect Donald Trump's first wife Ivana wants to be the ambassador for her native Czech Republic, saying she's well known there and worldwide and she's ready to serve the United States there.

"I have written three books," she told The New York Post. "They were translated in 40 countries in 25 languages. I’m known by the name Ivana. I really did not need the name Trump.”

Trump, 67, also commented that even though her former spouse has been elected president, he won't want to give up the trappings of his civilian life, including his penthouse apartment at Trump Tower, even if it is "probably inconvenient for the residents."

"To be perfectly honest, I think probably the Trump Tower and my town house in New York is much better than the White House,” she said. "But Donald is very right. He said if a lot of presidents before can live in here, so can [he] . . . I don’t think he’s going to do gold leafing in the White House.”

Ivana Trump also does not expect her ex-husband to fly about on Air Force One, as he prefers his own private plane, with which he's "very happy." But for that matter, she said her ex, who traveled from state to state campaigning for the presidency, just doesn't like to travel about.

“The last 18 months, he traveled as much as he ever has in his life," Ivana said. "Thank God he has his private plane, but still, it was brutal. It’s not going to get any better; it will get worse in the White House.”

She predicted he'll vacation at his Mar-a-Lago country club, but for his first 100 days in office, she said Trump will be busy working, and that he only sleeps about three hours a night.

Ivana complained to The Post that she'd had some problems with The New York Times while her ex-husband was running, because the newspaper sued her to reopen her divorce files.

"I’m not running for president of the United States. I’m just a citizen, and I have a right for privacy. I had enough of that,” she said.
