Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump are meeting Monday night with three Senate Democrats facing reelection in Trump-friendly states as Congress grapples with tax reform, Politico reported.
The GOP power couple — and White House advisers — is hosting Sens. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., Heidi Heitkamp, D-N.D., and Claire McCaskill, D-Mo., at their Washington home, the outlet reported, citing unnamed sources.
Heitkamp, Manchin, and Sen. Joe Donnelly, D-Ind., are Democratic votes considered possible to persuade on an administration tax bill, Politico reported. All three decided against signing a Democratic letter laying out hardline demands for tax reform, according to Politico.
McCaskill signed the letter, and has been called out by Trump.
Sens. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., Mike Lee, R-Utah, Pat Toomey, R-Pa., and several other Republican senators are also expected to attend the Monday night soiree — and White House legislative affairs director Marc Short could stop by, Politico reported.
Without Democratic votes, Senate Republicans can lose only two votes and pass tax reform, Politico reported.
