Democrat Jaime Harrison has taken a slim lead over Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., in a close Senate race.
Results from the Morning Consult poll:
- 47% of likely voters said they support Harrison, while 45% said they back Graham.
- In a poll taken earlier this month, Graham had a 48% to 42% lead.
- Harrison's lead over Graham is within the poll's margin of error.
Guy King, Harrison's campaign spokesperson, reacted to the new poll in a statement to Newsweek.
"Lindsey Graham is scared right now, and he should be," King said. "As Lindsey scurries off to Washington to play another round of political games, our grassroots movement is catapulting forward. South Carolina is ready for a leader who will stand up and fight for them — something Lindsey Graham fails to do."
The poll was conducted from Oct. 11-20 among at least 788 likely voters. The margin of error ranges from plus or minus 2 percentage points to plus or minus 3 percentage points.
