Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush will campaign on Friday for one of his successors, current Gov. Rick Scott.
Bush, who is considering a run for the Republican nomination for the White House in 2016, will visit "a business in Homestead to highlight proposals to keep Florida working," a Scott spokeswoman told the
Tampa Bay Times.
Scott is locked in a heated re-election battle with another former Sunshine State governor, Charlie Crist.
Bush, 61, served in the statehouse from 1999 to 2007. Scott came in 2011, after Crist served one term as a Republican. Crist is now running as a Democrat.
Last month, Bush joined with former bankers from Credit Suisse and Lehman Brothers Holdings to create a private-equity firm in Coral Gables, Fla.,
Bloomberg reported.
The move raised further speculation that Bush might launch a presidential bid.
