Media strategist Jehmu Greene is running for Democratic National Committee chair, Politico reports.
Green, a Fox News analyst, announced her candidacy to DNC members via email, according to the website.
"After an historic year and devastating losses up and down the ballot, it is women who are stepping up to protect the rights and freedom of every American," she said in the email.
"We are organizing, taking action, and marching to demonstrate our opposition to the next administration’s hurtful, hateful policies. It is critical that the debate over the future of the Democratic Party reflects this energy — transforming the party and the country cannot be done without us."
She joins an already crowded field of candidates that includes Rep. Keith Ellison of Minnesota, South Carolina Democratic Party Chairman Jaime Harrison, New Hampshire Democratic Party Chairman Ray Buckley, Labor Secretary Tom Perez, Idaho Democratic Party executive director Sally Boynton Brown, and South Bend, Ind. Mayor Pete Buttigieg, Politico notes.
"Like so many women across the country, I am stepping up and putting myself out there. I am running for DNC chair," Greene wrote in her email.
The Hill reports that Ellison and Perez and currently considered front-runners in the race.
