There was an organized plan within the Justice Department and FBI to keep Donald Trump from becoming president of the United States, House Judicial Committee member Jim Jordan told Fox News' "Fox & Friends" on Tuesday.
Jordan, an Ohio Republican, cited several examples to prove his point, particularly the revelation that Peter Strzok, a member of special counsel Robert Mueller's team, sent anti-Trump text messages, as well as being a key player in the Hillary Clinton email probe who tried to make her actions appear less dangerous to national security.
Strzok was removed from the Russia probe after his messages against Trump were discovered.
Jordan also noted that there are questions about the FBI's involvement with the Trump dossier, including if it was used by the bureau to get clearance for surveillance on members of the Trump campaign and to do everything possible to derail Trump's candidacy.
The congressman rejected explanations that Strzok's message of an "insurance policy" was not referring to the dossier, saying "when you look at all those text messages and see the inherent bias that they had" against Trump, it is clear what they meant.
"Everything points to the fact that there was an orchestrated plan to try to prevent Donald Trump from being the next president of the United States," Jordan said.
The Ohio Republican added that "it's amazing in spite of the fact that the Democrats were against him, the Republican establishment was against him, the mainstream press was against him and now, I believe, the FBI and the Justice Department were against him, the American people said, that's still the guy we want to be the next president."
