Former Vice President Joe Biden will campaign for Democrat Conor Lamb ahead of the special election for a congressional seat in Pennsylvania's 18th District, The Washington Times is reporting.
Biden is planning to appear at rallies next week with union members in advance of Lamb's March 13th showdown with Republican Rick Saccone.
"Conor Lamb will be a champion for the working people of southwestern Pennsylvania," Biden said.
"He's not afraid to say the word 'union.' I know he will stand up for the people of his district, whether it means protecting Social Security and Medicare, or fighting to create good, quality jobs you can support a family on."
Trump won the district by nearly 20 points in 2016, the Times noted. RealClearPolitics is rating the special election a "toss-up."
