Vice President Joe Biden, while insisting he has no interest in returning to office as Hillary Clinton's running mate, openly laughed Tuesday morning while watching a clip of presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump calling himself the
"law and order" candidate on Monday.
"I'd rather not make this story about Donald Trump, so I'm going to restrain myself, but the truth of the matter is that one of the problems we have is getting funding for law enforcement from his party, and maybe he'll come forward and be supportive of more support for community policing," Biden told ABC News' George Stephanopoulos on
"Good Morning America."
But while Biden said he'll help Clinton get elected, he's not interested in "re-upping for VP" after already serving under President Barack Obama for the past eight years.
"I'll do anything I can to help her win, and I think she's going to win, but I have been proud to serve for eight years as vice president, and I think that's enough," Biden told Stephanopoulos.
Also during the interview, Biden said he believes Clinton will be able to overcome polls that show Americans find Trump more honest than her.
"I think she fixes it just by the campaign, and for people to listen more closely to what Donald Trump is saying," he said. "This is early in the campaign season. My grand-pop used to say people didn't focus until after the World Series. He's wrong. Now, I think they begin to really focus after Labor Day. But I don't think there's even a remote comparison between the competence."
"The decisions will come when Americans weigh the proposals each candidate puts forward, and determine if they will impact their lives in a positive way," said Biden, and he thinks the decision will be clear before Election Day.
