Vice President Joe Biden said he would like to see a woman elected president of the U.S.

"This country's ready for a woman," said Vice President Joe Biden in an interview with Mic.

"There's no problem," said Biden. "We're going to be able to elect a woman in this country."

"They're both totally qualified," he said about Democratic presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders.

Biden stopped short of endorsing Hillary Clinton. The vice president said that he and President Obama both agreed not to officially endorse anyone and "let the party decide."

"Hillary's overwhelmingly qualified to be president," he said.

Biden and Obama are endorsing candidates further down the ballot, including Tammy Duckworth for Senate, reported the Chicago Sun-Times.

Biden is on a tour with singer and actress Lady Gaga to speak out against sexual assault, said a report in the Christian Science Monitor.
