Democrat presidential candidate Joe Biden on Thursday vowed to “eliminate” President Donald Trump’s executive orders banning transgender people from serving in the military.
“I will flat out just change the law, eliminate those executive orders,” Biden said in response to the mother of an eight-year-old transgender girl during his town hall on ABC News Thursday evening. “There should be zero discrimination.”
He went on to recount how, when he was a child, he saw two men hug and kiss.
"I turn to my dad and my dad says, 'Joey, it's simple. They love each other,'" Biden said.
"The idea that an eight-year-old child or a 10-year-old child decides you know, I decided I want to be transgender. That's what I think I'd like to be. It'd make my life a lot easier. There should be zero discrimination," the former vice president added.
"And what's happening is too many transgender women of color are being murdered. They're being murdered," he said.
Biden also sent a message to the rest of the LGBTQ community, saying, “there’s great reason to be concerned for the LGBTQ community,” and noting that he “fought for a very long time” in order to “make sure there’s equality across the board.”
