John Kasich blasted Ted Cruz Monday, saying the Texas senator's campaign used "strong-arm" tactics as it sought delegates in Michigan — a tactic that fell flat.

"The Cruz campaign tried to strong-arm and bully people, and they lost everything," the Ohio governor said, The Hill reports.

The Cruz campaign tried to put delegates in each of the eight committee slots up for grabs, but the move didn't work, CNN reports. The all-important rules committee, which would play a significant role in a contested convention this summer, had two seats available but they went to Kasich and Donald Trump.

On Sunday, Trump's convention manager Paul Manafort said on NBC's "Meet the Press" that the Cruz campaign is employing "Gestapo tactics" in his effort to secure delegates.

"It's not my style, and it's not Donald Trump's style," Manafort said. "But it is Ted Cruz's style. And that's going to wear thin very fast.

"He's threatening. You go to these county conventions, and you see the tactics, Gestapo tactics, the scorched-earth tactics. We're going to be filing several protests because the reality is they're not playing by the rules."

A Trump supporter in Colorado was so fed up with the Republican party, which gave all 34 of the state's delegate votes to Cruz over the weekend, that he burned a copy of his Republican party registration form and posted the video of it online.
