Gov. John Kasich is urging GOP officials to "lead by example" in responding to a 2005 hot-mic tape of Donald Trump bragging his star status allowed him to be sexually aggressive with impunity.
The last GOP primary candidate to drop out of the race against Trump said he stands by his expanded statement explaining in an interview Thursday with Business Insider why he could not support the party's standard-bearer.
"Lead by example," he urged any Republican official still struggling with a response to the tape.
"I don't have any more words. I've tried to do the best I can to lead by my actions in an appropriate way without recrimination or anything like that, because . . . I'm a very happy person. I don't think I need to say any more than what I've demonstrated."
"And my action over the weekend was not based on just this incident, which is terrible, it's been a whole consistent message of division and anger," he added. "And I don't support that."
