A donor who provided a $2,500 donation to Rep. Keith Ellison, D-Minn., in 2017, has been an advocate for violence against Israel, The Washington Free Beacon reported.
The contribution to Ellison was recorded in March 2017 after he was named deputy chairman to the Democratic National Committee, Federal Election Commission campaign disclosures noted.
Taher Herzallah, the donor, is the associate director of outreach and grassroots organizing for the American Muslims for Palestine group and runs its campus group, Students for Justice in Palestine, The Free Beacon reported.
Herzallah has advocated for violence against Israel, saying in 2014 that "Israelis have to be bombed" and "the state of Israel is a lie," an Anti-Defamation League report said at the time.
The congressman sent a tweet Wednesday showing a photo of him with "Antifa: The Anti-Fascist Handbook," saying that the book would "strike fear in the heart" of President Donald Trump.
