Democratic Congressman and DNC Vice Chairman Keith Ellison is mulling a run for attorney general in his home state of Minnesota, Politico reports.
Described as bored in Congress and tired of playing second fiddle to chairman Tom Perez at the Democratic National Committee, Ellison is exploring whether to run for the attorney general post, currently held by Lori Swanson.
Swanson is expected to vacate the post in order to run for governor, Politico reports.
Ellison also had eyes on the seat left open when Sen. Al Franken resigned, Politico reports, but governor-appointed replacement Tina Smith has decided to run for it in the special election.
Ellison, an attorney, reached out to the Democratic Attorneys General Association last fall.
He would likely face competition from other Democrats if he chooses to run, Politico reports.
