The coronavirus pandemic could potentially unite the country, but it isn't anything like an fighting in an actual war, according to Republican Congressman Adam Kinzinger, R-Ill, on Newsmax TV.
In the past, Rep. Kinzinger admits he's compared the fight against coronavirus to fighting in a war. But he says the analogy isn't accurate.
"I don't know if it's inappropriate. I just don't think it's accurate," Kinzinger told Tuesday's "Spicer & Co." "I have used some analogies similar where I basically said this is going to be a thing that defines our generation, like World War II defined the generation of my parents."
Kinzinger said World War II differed in that it lasted multiple years and required an entire generation to go off to a foreign land to fight.
He does, however, acknowledge that people are doing heroic things during the coronavirus pandemic, such as going to work and taking on the risk of contracting a deadly disease.
"It is a moment where we can make great sacrifices and see what's important and it's not always the hustle-bustle of a busy day," Kinzinger said.
