Hillary Clinton should and will release transcripts for speeches she gave to financial institutions at the "appropriate time," said Democratic Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand on Friday.
Clinton, however, has said she will release the speech transcripts when Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders release their tax returns.
"I think she's been clear that she's going to," Gillibrand said during a CNN interview, according to
The Washington Free Beacon. Adding that Clinton "cares deeply about openness and transparency."
Gillibrand took over Clinton's position in the Senate, when she was selected for the position after President Obama named Clinton secretary of state. She was chosen by Gov. David Paterson to fill Clinton's position, then won a special election in 2010.
In an article published on
Medium, Gillibrand said she supports her "friend and mentor" for president and "no one has inspired me to get off the sidelines and truly make a difference more than Hillary Clinton has."
However, releasing the speeches could endanger her presidential candidacy, according to Seth Abramson in
The Huffington Post. Noting her speeches to Goldman-Sachs were "gushing," even though Clinton claimed she was critical of the financial industry.
