Sen. Amy Klobuchar Monday night declared to supporters that her campaign is "punching above our weight," even amid delays from the state party in releasing results from the Iowa caucuses after it found inconsistencies in the data.
The Minnesota Democrat was the first to speak to supporters during the delay. She campaigned heavily in Iowa, which is her neighboring state, and said Monday she is heading to the next primary in New Hampshire, which will be held a week from Tuesday.
"Somehow, someway, I'm going to get on a plane tonight to New Hampshire," she assured her supporters. "We are bringing this ticket to New Hampshire, so even in a crowded field of candidates, even during the well-earned impeachment hearing of Donald J. Trump, which kept me bolted to my Senate desk for the last two weeks, we kept fighting."
Klobuchar also praised her "friends" in Iowa and said her campaign has beaten the odds "every step of the way."
"We have done it on merit, we have done it with ideas, and we have done it with hard work," Klobuchar said.
The senator also slammed President Donald Trump and seemed to throw in a dig against Mike Bloomberg, another Democrat running for president.
"We know, in our hearts, that in a democracy, it is not about the loudest voice or the biggest bank account. It is about the best idea. And it is about the person that can turn those ideas into action," Klobuchar said.
