ABC News has hired conservative commentator Laura Ingraham as a contributor, George Stephanopoulos announced on his Sunday show
"This Week."
Known for her biting commentary, Ingraham hosts a syndicated radio talk show and has authored five books, including "The Hillary Trap" and "The Obama Diaries." She will continue as a contributor at Fox News and a fill-in host for Bill O'Reilly's "The O'Reilly Factor,"
according to Politico.
After the announcement, liberal blog
Media Matters published a post critical of Ingraham, saying she "repeatedly engaged in inflammatory and hateful rhetoric" on her radio show.
The story cites Ingraham's tongue-in-cheek commentary such as "walling off Detroit" if Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder's plan to attract immigrants to the bankrupt city was successful and her musing that Hillary Clinton "should be absolutely crucified for her lack of performance" as secretary of state.
A former litigator and Supreme Court law clerk, Ingraham is known to rile the left. In May 2011, MSNBC suspended former host Ed Schultz for calling Ingraham a "right wing slut" on his radio show.
