President Donald Trump took to Twitter to congratulate Laura Loomer on her GOP primary win in a Florida House race.
“Great going Laura,” Trump tweeted just after midnight on Wednesday.
He added that she has a “great chance against a Pelosi puppet.” Trump was referencing Democrat House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Loomer’s opponent is Rep. Lois Frankel, D-Fla., who is favored to win the district come November.
Loomer has a history of voicing anti-Muslim rhetoric, according to The Hill.
She was banned from ride-sharing apps Uber and Lyft in 2017 after she tweeted she “never want[s] to support another Islamic immigrant driver," along with others calling for "someone... to create a non Islamic form of @uber or @lyft."
She also called out Ilhan Omar on Twitter in 2018, which got her banned from the platform.
“Isn’t it ironic how the twitter moment used to celebrate ‘women, LGBTQ, and minorities’ is a picture of Ilhan Omar?" she wrote. "Ilhan is pro Sharia Ilhan is pro-FGM Under Sharia, homosexuals are oppressed & killed. Women are abused & forced to wear the hijab. Ilhan is anti Jewish."
Loomer previously told The Hill that she was going to win and that her primary win would mark the “first time a deplatformed candidate will get a party nomination.”
