Lindsey Graham: Carson 'Has No Idea What He Would Do' in a Shooting

Lindsey Graham: Carson 'Has No Idea What He Would Do' in a Shooting
(Wire Services) Sen. Lindsey Graham

Sen. Lindsey Graham said his Republican presidential rival Ben Carson was wrong to have said people facing a shooter should rush him in an attempt to save as many lives as possible.

Carson came under fire after saying on "Fox & Friends" Tuesday that victims should not cooperate with shooters.

"Not only would I probably not cooperate with him, I would not just stand there and let him shoot me," Carson said. "I would say, 'Hey guys, everybody attack him. He may shoot me, but he can’t get us all.'"

Critics said Carson sounded like he was blaming the victims of last week's Oregon community college shooting for not acting to stop him. Carson said Tuesday night on Fox News Channel's "The Kelly File"  and "CBS This Morning" on Wednesday that he didn't mean it that way, and was only trying to encourage people who might face such circumstances in the future.

"I think Mr. Carson has no idea what he would do," Graham said Wednesday on CNN's "New Day." He pointed to his own military background, which has not included heavy combat, and said a person doesn't know how he or she will react until faced with the situation.

"I just don’t think that’s the road to go down in terms of questioning these people, who have lost their lives, because you have no idea what you would do," Graham said.
