Sen. Graham: Yates 'Very Credible'

MSNBC's "For The Record"

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., said former acting Attorney General Sally Yates did the right thing by going to the White House general counsel "knowing what she did" about former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn.

"From a Republican point of view, I found Miss Yates to be incredibly credible," Graham told Greta Van Susteran on MSNBC's "For the Record," following Yates' testimony Monday before a Senate judiciary subcommittee in a high-profile hearing on Russian meddling into the US election.

"I thought what she did in terms of handling this, she didn't go to the press, she went to the White House. I think Mr. (Donald F.) McGahn seemed to take it seriously and we will see."

McGhan is the White House counsel who Yates said she warned Flynn about in the first days of Donald Trump’s presidency.

"Gen. Flynn was compromised in regard to the Russians," Yates said at the hearing about Flynn, who lied to his bosses about his contacts with a Russian ambassador.

"We weren't the only ones that knew all of this, that the Russians also knew about what General Flynn had done and the Russians also knew that General Flynn had misled the vice president and others," Yates said, relating the contents of her conversation with McGahn.
