Lawyer for Ex-Lizzo Dancers Blasts Dems for Star-Studded Fundraiser

By    |   Friday, 29 March 2024 02:29 PM EDT

A lawyer for singer Lizzo’s former backup dancers has reportedly blasted the Democratic National Committee for hiring the star to headline a star-studded, $25 million fundraiser at Radio City Music Hall.

Attorney Ron Zambrano told NewsNation the Thursday gig was "shameful… amid such egregious allegations."

"Without getting into the politics, I can’t imagine why anyone would want Lizzo representing them in any way given her reprehensible behavior," he told the outlet. "It’s just a terrible look."

Lizzo has denied the sexual harassment and discrimination allegations by dancers Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams, and Noelle Rodriguez.

The dancers accused the singer of "creating a hostile work environment through a wide range of legal wrongdoing, including not just sexual harassment but also religious and racial discrimination," according to Billboard.

Last month, a judge denied Lizzo’s request to toss the lawsuit, allowing the majority of the case to proceed to trial later this year.

"Lizzo continues to shame the victims with Diddy using the same playbook, and it’s disgusting," Zambrano fumed, referring to Sean "Diddy" Combs, who was not at home during a raid at his properties.

"History is keeping receipts and years from now, people will be ashamed that they worked with her," Zambrano continued.

"Lizzo’s reckoning is coming. This is just the beginning of the music industry’s #MeToo moment with allegations against Lizzo, Diddy and others. We aim to end this misogynistic behavior across the industry and look forward to hearing from not only additional potential Lizzo plaintiffs but anyone who feels they have been wronged by other artists."

The fundraiser at Radio City Music Hall was hosted by actress Mindy Kaling and featured performances not only by Lizzo, but by musical guests and artists, including Queen Latifah, Ben Platt, Cynthia Erivo, and Lea Michele.

NewsNation did not report any response from Lizzo about the lawyer's remarks.
