Defense contractor Lockheed Martin donated $1 million to President-elect Donald Trump’s inaugural committee, CBS News reported Friday.
Lockheed Martin committed the money on Dec. 2.
With a record $170 million raised, more than enough to fund events surrounding the inauguration, such as the inaugural balls, donors are now being directed to the super PACs supporting Trump, CBS News reported.
Donor events to the inaugural committee begin Jan. 18 with a reception at the National Gallery of Art, according to CBS News, adding that donors will also be invited to attend a black-tie dinner with Vice President-elect JD Vance.
After Trump is sworn in as president on Jan. 20, he, along with Vance, the Cabinet, and Republican lawmakers, are expected at The Starlight Ball at Union Station, according to CBS News.
Lockheed Martin also donated $1 million to Trump’s inaugural committee in 2017 and outgoing President Joe Biden’s in 2020, according to the reports.
The company is joining many major companies, including Boeing, Chevron, General Motors, Ford, Uber, Microsoft, Amazon, Google and Meta in donating for the Jan. 20 event. Apple's Tim Cook and and OpenAI's Sam Altman have also donated.
