GOP Rep. Louie Gohmert: Oust Mueller and Rosenstein

(Fox News' "Fox & Friends")

By    |   Monday, 30 April 2018 02:56 PM EDT

Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Texas, says Washington needs to clean house by ending special counsel Robert Mueller's Russia investigation and ousting Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.

Mueller "absolutely does [have to go], Rosenstein too – big time," Gohmert said Monday on Fox News' "Fox & Friends."

Gohmert said the reason some senators are calling for legislation to protect Mueller from being fired by the president is because "they are never Trumpers. They want Trump out at all costs, even if it helps these guys that are doing a rotten job."

He criticized former FBI Director James Comey and Rosenstein for their role in the Uranium One scandal – Obama administration's approval of a deal that gave Russia a financial interest in U.S. uranium production.

"Actually Mueller, Comey, well, Mueller and Rosenstein, [Justice Department lawyer Andrew] Weissmann – they all participated in the Russian uranium investigation," Gohmert said. "They killed the investigation, quieted it so that Russia could get the sale of our uranium."
