Rep. Gohmert: 'Nobody in America Needs Firing More Than Mueller'

(Fox News' "Happening Now")

Monday's FBI raid on President Donald Trump's attorney Michael Cohen's office and property shows what kind of person FBI special counsel Robert Mueller is, Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Texas, said Wednesday, calling the former FBI director the agency's worst since J. Edgar Hoover.

"There's nobody in America that needs firing more than Mueller," Gohmert told Fox News' "Happening Now."

"He needs not only to be fired, he needs to be investigated for his part in helping the Clinton Foundation make $145 million from the sale of uranium when nobody knew more than Mueller did about the investigation, about the Russian efforts to get our uranium. He participated."

Gohmert also recalling Mueller's raids on former Rep. William Jefferson, D-La., in 2006 during President George W. Bush's administration, and adding a call for the former director to be fired from the Russian probe.

After the FBI raided Jefferson's home and office, they discovered the Democrat had taken $100,000 in bribe money. Eventually, Jefferson was convicted of 11 counts of crimes and sentenced to prison.

"I read the affidavit in support of a search warrant that they got into bust into a congressional office," Gohmert said. "Unprecedented in over 200 years. The way you handle a conflict of interest with a congressional privilege being even higher than attorney client.

"You always would go to the ethics attorneys here at Capitol Hill, and they would take all the things from the congressman's office and sort through."

Mueller decided on a raid, however, to send a message "you yahoo on Capitol Hill, we are bigger, we'll threaten you anytime we want to."

"I submit he did more damage to the FBI than all the other FBI directors put together since J. Edgar Hoover," Gohmert said about Mueller. "He's been a disaster."

Meanwhile, even if Mueller finds something in Cohen's possession that could implicate Trump, it still would not be admissible in court, and the Supreme Court would never allow that."

He also dismissed the idea a warrant to search Cohen's office would be difficult to get, as some officials have commented this week.

"Mueller and the FBI and the DOJ [Department of Justice], they don't care about probable cause," he said. "They can always find a judge to give them a warrant. This is all about trying to get something on Cohen, so they can say you're looking at a life for 1,000 years. I've seen them do it before.

"You just need to tell us true or not, 'Trump did a crime,' and you won't be in a prison system. They will do it."

Mueller, he added, is "corrupt enough and people have to come to the realization that Mueller is not an honest man."
